This heavily decorated and ornately styled Satsuma pin is a timeless example from the late 19th century.
Filled with incredible detail, this Satsuma pin depicts a powerful dragon swirled around itself. There is fine deep orange enameling for accent against the intense, thick gold gilding. The background is nicely cackled and loaded with fine gold dots. It is set off with wonderfully designed scalloped edges that are rimmed in black enamel with more gold dots. Another fine piece of wearable art to add to your collection.
There is a very fine hairline on the top left of the pin that requires at least 10x magnification to see and is in no danger of splitting. It has a ‘C’ clasp that works well.
The pin is 1 3/8″ in diameter. It is in very very good vintage condition and guaranteed to be of the period.
