This is an extremely dramatic, desirable conch shell cameo, circa 1900, perhaps earlier. Its graced with enchantment!
The cameo, portrays a Bacchante woman’s side profile. She is elaborately carved with precise detail. She had long tendrils and grapes intertwining with them. The curve of her neck and grace of her gown are stylishly chic.
The sterling frame is cut and shaped to conform to the cameo. It is heavy gage sterling and takes this regal cameo to majestic.
The cameo pendant is 1 ¾” by 1 1/8” and weighs 7.8 grams. With the bail it is 2 ¼” long. It is in excellent vintage condition with a warm, unpolished patina, no chips, dings or cracks and guaranteed of the era.
